I created this coloring book because I saw a gap that kept showing up again and again in my work with children, parents, and neurodivergent families: kids were being asked to regulate their emotions without being given developmentally appropriate, body-based tools to do so.

I noticed that many children, especially neurodivergent children and those impacted by trauma, struggle to name what they’re feeling, let alone explain it in words. Traditional emotional tools often rely heavily on language, logic, or adult interpretation. This coloring book was born from the understanding that children communicate through their bodies, their creativity, and their imagination long before they can fully communicate through words.

As a trauma-informed children’s yoga teacher and mindfulness practitioner, I also know that healing and regulation doesn't happen through forcing calmness or “fixing” behavior. They happen through safety, choice, repetition, and gentle connection. Coloring, when paired with intentional prompts, affirmations, and nervous-system-aware themes, becomes a powerful regulation tool. It slows the body down, engages both sides of the brain, and gives children a sense of agency over their inner experience.

I created this coloring book to offer children:

- A safe, non-verbal outlet for expressing big feelings

- A way to explore emotions without pressure, correction, or judgment

- An opportunity to build emotional awareness while feeling in control of their choices

I also created this coloring book with caregivers, educators, and therapists in mind. I saw how overwhelmed parents and teachers often feel, wanting to support children emotionally but unsure how to do it in a way that doesn’t escalate, shame, or overwhelm. This coloring book serves as a bridge; a tool that gently invites connection, conversation, and co-regulation without requiring anyone to be an expert.

I didn’t create this book to make children “behave better.” I created it to help them feel seen, safe, and supported to learn that their emotions are allowed, their bodies are wise, and they are not alone in their inner world.
